For this school project, I had to design a poster for a film using the style of suprematism. Suprematism is a form of art where it uses geometric forms and pure colours. It was founded by Kasimir Malevich and I was particularly inspired by his suprematism composition works where they uses lines, square, and circles for their composition. For the theme of my movie poster, I chose Charlie Chaplin as my subject because around the time when suprematism was founded Chaplin was just starting to make a name for himself with his tramp character. Thus, I found it apporiate to make the movie poster based on one of his movies “A Dog’s Life” which was made in 1918 a few years later when suprematism was founded.
